Eating Coffee Beans

Published by Jennifer at 6:48 pm under Coffee Beans

coffee-timeThese days many coffee shops sell little baggies of chocolate-covered roasted coffee beans, and even though they’re growing in popularity, some still wonder if people should eat roasted coffee beans.

They’re an organic product, and safe for most to eat – the only thing you want to watch out for is that the really hard ones may be tough on your teeth.  Also, the beans, like coffee, contain caffeine, so as addictive as those tasty chocolate covered coffee beans can be, you may not want to overdo it if caffeine is an issue.

One cup of coffee contains around 25 coffee beans, and you’re not getting the full coffee bean in coffee, so the caffeine can add up if you eat a lot.

Did you know?

It is an old Italian tradition to serve the drink Sambuca with several whole coffee beans in it.  Sambuca is an anise-flavored liquor and is sometimes added to coffee for flavor.

It is also believed that monks would eat coffee beans before long prayer sessions.

Hi, just a thought from a 50 year old male adult with attention deficit disorder. I have been fed amphetamines by every doctor I have ever visited since the age of ten. The results have been a calming and focused live style (the positive) and a dangerous out of control gnawing addiction to amphetamines (the negative). Eating roasted coffee beans provides very many positives for me, without any real negatives. Take it from an unwilling amphetamine slave, the addictive nature of roasted coffee beans does not even come close to being addictive. Believe me when I tell you that REAL addiction is a living hell. Eat your coffee beans and don’t worry.
